First published 1988
Second edition 1994 Citation Details: Pages 16-17 Text: In 1759 the work of tuning and repairing was taken over by the Casterton family. William Casterton appears in the accounts each year until 1763 when James Casterton took over, possibly his son. He lived in Lincoln St Michael's parish and is mentioned in a lease there in 1793.25 His son William was admitted to the cathedral choir as a Burghersh chanter in 1782 and as a chorister in 1787; on both occasions the father was described as 'of the city of Lincoln, organ builder'. Except for the year 1766, when Lloyd Rayner the cathedral organist was paid for tuning, James Casterton carried on until about 1818.26 25. | Occupation | The Organs of Lincoln Cathedral Publication: Lincoln Cathedral Music Appeal First published 1988 Second edition 1994 Citation Details: Pages 16-17 Text: In 1759 the work of tuning and repairing was taken over by the Casterton family.
